about

rodney keeling My name is Rodney Keeling, I am 19 years old, and I am a sophomore at Oregon State University in the Computer Engineering program. I have lived in the Portland area all my life, and I love living here. I´m a tech geek. I love new technologies. I love drinking new types of tea; right now I am drinking a lot of black teas and chais. I also have picked-up bouldering in the past few months. It has been a blast so far; I´m doing V1s and V2s as of now.

design

I love graphic & web design. I mostly do front-end coding, but I may soon learn MySQL and other back-end technologies. I write clean XHTML, CSS, and I have work with Flash and some Javascript. I have been doing web design for around 4 years, and graphic design for 3 years. Grid layouts, typography, and clever design all interest me greatly. I am well-versed with most of the Adobe CS4 suite, and popular text editors like Espresso, TextWrangler, and Coda. I can program in Java, and I know a bit of C, but I will learn more. Objective-C is also on my list. I am also well versed with the three popular operating systems (OS X, Linux, & Windows).

engineering

As said, I am a computer engineering major, so I play with a lot of electronics. I have experience with circuit analysis, digital logic, robotics, embedded systems and FPGAs, and a ton more. I am hoping to go to grad school and mainly research new IC material and design. If university research for some reason doesn´t work out, I´d love to work as a design engineer at Apple. I also have a pretty big interest in robotics, so that´s another field I wouldn´t mind working in. I have a few videos on my vimeo page that show some of the projects I have done with robots (mainly my Tekbot).

computers/IT

I have over 5 years of experience with computer hardware, networking, trouble-shooting, etc. I have worked countless hours with schools, volunteer organizations, as well as community individuals doing computer network setup, repair, installation, and upgrading over all three major operating systems. I prefer nearly any UNIX-based system over Windows systems, but I still know my way around Windows systems. I am familiar with the command line interface for all three operating systems as well.
